21-year-old Evergreen State College student, Jonathan Rodriguez, died from carbon monoxide poisoning in December, and two other students were hospitalized after a water heater installed improperly leaked CO in their on-campus apartment. The Washington State Patrol's investigation revealed that maintenance staff initially assumed the CO alarms were faulty and not due to an actual leak, which contributed to the tragedy. The Evergreen State College has been forwarded the findings for corrective action.
