'Debilitated by trauma’: Nelson aid worker returns from Israel-Hamas war.

Nelson aid worker Paul Caney, who co-ordinated Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) services in Gaza, has returned to New Zealand after witnessing the devastating effects of the Israel-Hamas war on the region. During his time there, Caney faced numerous challenges as he negotiated safe passage for MSF staff, their families, and patients, while working in the midst of an active war zone. Tragically, an MSF nurse was killed by Israeli forces, and the IDF later destroyed the group's vehicles. Caney witnessed the devastating effects of the conflict on the local population, with many MSF staff members forced to flee or go into hiding and some being "debilitated by trauma."
