The Philippines' total external trade in goods decreased 2.1% year-on-year in January, to $16.09bn, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Imports accounted for 63.1% of the total trade, while the rest were exports. The trade deficit in January amounted to $4.22bn, a decrease of 24% compared to the previous year. China remains the largest supplier of imported goods to the Philippines.
