Congress leader Rahul Gandhi promised a nation-wide caste census and an economic & financial survey if his party comes to power, ensuring justice for each tribal in India. Speaking in the tribal-dominated Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, Gandhi also vowed to strengthen the Forest Rights Act and introduce legislation for guaranteed Minimum Support Price for farm and forest produce. Tribals, accounting for 8% of India's population, will receive a proportionate stake in development, according to Gandhi.
