1,000 parents surveyed allow infants to sleep in bouncers, swings, and beanbags, raising SIDS risk, warns the Lullaby Trust.
The Lullaby Trust warns millions of parents that they're putting their babies at risk by allowing them to sleep in items like bouncers, swings, and beanbags. A survey of 1,000 parents with babies under one found that 70% let their infants sleep in a bouncer, 67% in a swing, and 61% on a beanbag. The charity advises that babies sleep on their backs on a clear, flat, firm sleep surface, such as a cot or Moses basket, to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and keep their airway open and clear.
