Cabo Verde and Spanish researchers' insecticide paint VESTA killed Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in a trial, with potential for combating vector-borne diseases.

Insecticide paint VESTA, developed by researchers in Cabo Verde and Spain, effectively killed Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in a trial involving 228 houses in two vulnerable neighborhoods. The paint, which releases small amounts of insecticide over time, had no serious health effects and led to complete mortality of the mosquitoes within a month. The eco-friendly and sustainable method could be a promising strategy to combat vector-borne diseases like Zika, Dengue, and Malaria.
