Governor Katie Hobbs announces Arizona's Extreme Heat Preparedness Plan, including creation of the nation's first statewide chief heat officer to coordinate efforts in shelter, energy, health and disaster response. The plan also aims to improve cooling center networks, with plans for more solar-powered mobile cooling units and state employee support. The move follows last year's heat wave which caused over 400 deaths in Maricopa County.
