NASA's CHAPEA program recruits volunteers for a 378-day Mars simulation inside Mars Dune Alpha habitat, simulating real space mission conditions.
NASA's Mars simulation, CHAPEA program, is set to recruit volunteers for its second yearlong mission inside Mars Dune Alpha, a 1,700-sq ft 3D-printed habitat at Johnson Space Center. For 378 days, participants will eat, live, and communicate as if on Mars, helping NASA prepare for future human exploration of the planet. To accurately simulate life, volunteers are limited to food that could be pre-positioned or harvested on a real space mission.
