WA-based VetChip develops an "animal fitbit" microchip technology to monitor livestock's health in real-time, with trials on sick horses starting this year.

An "animal fitbit" microchip technology, developed by WA-based company VetChip, monitors livestock's temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate, providing real-time data on their health. Inserted under an animal's skin, the chip feeds biological data into a phone app, allowing farmers to monitor their animals' welfare states. Trials on sick horses are set to begin this year, and the tech is believed to be a world first.
