UVic researchers are investigating why kelp forests are resilient in certain areas to aid restoration efforts. While some parts of B.C. 's coast are experiencing a decline in kelp habitats, others remain robust. Understanding the factors contributing to resilience could help in recovery efforts. The study focuses on Bull kelp, which covers much of Vancouver Island and B.C. 's coast, growing close to the shore where it can receive sunlight for photosynthesis.
