Over a year-long investigation, the Chicago Tribune discovered that Illinois health systems allowed workers accused of sexual misconduct with patients to continue providing care. Out of 52 medical providers accused of sexual misconduct with patients in Illinois over the last decade, over half faced allegations from multiple patients in recent years. Some accused workers were later charged with abusing additional patients, while the hospitals and healthcare systems employed them, allowing them to continue working.
