South Korea and Cuba establish diplomatic ties, strengthening South Korea's Latin American diplomacy and highlighting shared opposition to the US.

South Korea has established diplomatic relations with Cuba for the first time since 1959, with the announcement made in New York after the UN representatives from the two exchanged letters formalizing bilateral ties. South Korea is the 193rd country with which Cuba has diplomatic relations, and trade between the countries reached $21 million in 2022.
