Ts'msyen artist Morgan Asoyuf wins Royal Mint design contest, creating a 10 oz gold-plated collectible coin featuring diverse Northwest Coast life cycles and clans.

Morgan Asoyef, a renowned Ts'msyen artist, has designed the Royal Mint's 2023 "Celestial Circle" collectible coin. The matte black and gold coin, which costs $1,599 on the Royal Mint website, features representations of the sun and the moon and signifies the importance of diverse life cycles to traditions in the Northwest Coast. It contains depictions of the wolf, orca, raven, and eagle Ts'msyen clans and is currently sold out. Asoyef, who lived on the North Coast, believes that artists like her are sustaining their culture by replacing artwork stolen from traditional territories and winning competitions such as the one she participated in to have her artwork feature on the coin.
