Judge overturns convictions of a British Columbia woman.

A British Columbia Supreme Court judge has overturned the convictions of Kimberly Woolman, a woman accused of deliberately coughing towards a grocery store worker during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Woolman had been convicted of assault and causing a disturbance in April 2020. The judge ruled that Woolman should have been allowed to call a character witness in her trial, and since she has already served about a third of her 18-month probation order, the judge used his discretion to dismiss the convictions instead of ordering a retrial.
