In the past year, over 1,500 individuals have fallen victim to concert ticket scams, resulting in a total loss of at least $1.1 million. These scams typically involve online third-party resellers who post ticket listings on platforms such as Telegram, Carousell, Facebook, X, and Xiaohongshu. Victims often communicate with scammers via in-app messengers, are redirected to other messaging platforms like WhatsApp and WeChat, and are instructed to make payments via PayNow, bank transfers, or virtual credits. The police have advised the public to exercise caution when purchasing concert tickets online, particularly with popular artists like Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Shinee performing in Singapore.
