Robert Jenrick has called on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to cut stamp duty in order to help "fix the housing crisis" and provide a boost to housebuilding. During a House of Commons debate, Jenrick urged the Prime Minister to consider using the budget to cut stamp duty, as they had done together during the pandemic. Sunak responded that tax decisions are for the Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, and insisted that the government had increased housebuilding.
