The prime minister of Britain has proposed holding a snap election in 2024.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has indicated that he expects to call a general election in the second half of 2024, effectively ruling out an earlier vote in May. Sunak's Conservative Party is currently trailing the main opposition Labour Party in the polls. Labour leader Keir Starmer has accused Sunak of "dithering and delaying" while the Liberal Democrats claim Sunak has "bottled it."
