The Reserve Bank of India has revoked Paytm Payments Bank’s banking license effective April 24, 2026, after finding it in serious non-compliance and detrimental to public interest. The regulator halted all operations following prior restrictions, and while winding up the bank, confirmed sufficient funds exist to repay depositors. This marks the first closure of a payments bank since the program began.
