Orlando Rivas dies shielding students from falling pole after car crash.

A Buffalo Grove High School security guard, Orlando Rivas, died after shielding students from a vehicle that struck a pole, causing it to fall on him. The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday during student dismissal. Rivas was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where he died. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
