UBEC disbursed ₦5B to schools for infrastructure and launched a program to reduce dropout rates.
The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has disbursed over ₦5 billion to 518 communities nationwide under the 2025 School-Based Management Committee School Improvement Programme (SBMC-SIP). The funds will support infrastructure rehabilitation, furniture, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities in underserved areas. UBEC also launched the Learner Retention Support Programme with a ₦5 billion budget to assist one million pupils in eight states, aiming to reduce dropout rates and address socio-economic barriers to school attendance.
