UK government urges 21-year-olds to claim unclaimed Child Trust Funds.
HMRC is sending letters to thousands of 21-year-olds in the UK about unclaimed Child Trust Funds (CTFs), tax-free savings accounts established for children born between 2002 and 2011.
With over 750,000 accounts remaining unclaimed and an average balance of £2,200, the government is urging young adults to use the free "find my child trust fund" service on gov.uk to locate their money.
The funds, held by banks and building societies, mature at age 18, allowing holders to withdraw or reinvest the savings.
