Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Algeria, Mohammed Mahmud Lele, has died at age 50 in Ankara, Türkiye, after a prolonged illness.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the passing of the career diplomat, who was recently confirmed for the role by the Senate.
Lele, born in Bauchi State, served as Director of the Middle East and Gulf Division and had previously held postings in Berlin, Lomé, and Riyadh.
His remains were buried in Kano according to Islamic rites, and the ministry extended condolences to his family and colleagues.
