On April 19, 2026, seven people were stranded on a narrow cliff ledge near Durras, NSW, after high tide cut off their access. Eurobodalla SES personnel, led by Commander Peter Collins, responded after a specialist descended 40 meters to reach the group. A hypothermia patient was prioritized, and strong downdrafts prevented a helicopter rescue, so the SES team safely extracted everyone over three hours.
