Researchers at IIT Gandhinagar have developed a biocompatible hydrogel from plant polymers to improve colon tumor surgery. The material flows as a liquid for injection but solidifies into a stable cushion, lifting tumors for precise removal without dissipating like traditional fluids. After successful pre-clinical trials, the technology is advancing toward clinical use to enhance surgical accuracy and reduce complications.
