Igbo leader's lawyer urges Tinubu to free detained youths, warning of election impact.

Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, legal counsel to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has urged President Bola Tinubu to release thousands of detained Igbo youths without trial, alleging they were arrested on suspicion. Ejimakor criticized the justice system for a double standard, claiming these youths deserve freedom more than "repentant terrorists" recently released. He warned that Kanu's continued imprisonment could impact the 2027 general elections in the South-East. Igbo leaders have also condemned Kanu's life imprisonment in November 2025, viewing it as a symptom of the region's marginalization.
