Washington's gray wolf population reached a record 270 in 2025.
Washington's gray wolf population reached a record 270 wolves in 2025, a 17% increase from the previous year, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The state now has 49 packs and 23 breeding pairs, with six new packs confirmed in the northeast and North Cascades.
While 28 wolves died in 2025, including 12 legally hunted by tribes and four removed for livestock conflicts, only five packs were involved in livestock attacks.
The department will host a virtual media event on April 22 to discuss the findings.
