Turkish student Rumeysa Ozturk returns to Turkey after settlement with US.

A Turkish doctoral student who was detained by U.S. immigration authorities has returned to Turkey after reaching a settlement agreement with the government. Rumeysa Ozturk, a Tufts University graduate student, completed her Ph.D. and left the country following her release from detention in May 2025. Her attorneys and the ACLU have argued her arrest was based on her protected pro-Palestinian speech.
