German officials have approved a complex rescue plan to save Timmy, a sick humpback whale stranded on the Baltic Sea coast since March. Rescuers plan to use air cushions and pontoons to lift the 12- to 15-meter animal and tow it toward the North Sea, despite the whale being in poor health and showing signs of life.
