A 5th-century marble sculpture head from the ancient city of Smyrna has been returned to Turkey from the Denver Art Museum after being confirmed as illegally trafficked. The artifact, originally unearthed in 1934 near modern-day Izmir, is now on display at the Izmir Archaeology Museum. Turkish authorities say this is part of a broader effort to recover over 26,000 cultural artifacts.
