Taylor becomes ACT's first female Aboriginal Chief Magistrate, effective May 2026.
Australia’s first Aboriginal woman to serve on a superior court, Justice Louise Taylor, has been appointed the new Chief Magistrate of the Australian Capital Territory.
She will assume the role in May 2026, succeeding the outgoing Chief Magistrate.
Concurrently, Acting Justice Andrew Muller has been named a resident judge of the ACT Supreme Court, beginning his new position on April 13, 2026.
