North Dakota Governor Armstrong proposes agency spending cuts to address an $800 million budget gap.
North Dakota Gov.
Kelly Armstrong has proposed spending cuts for state agencies for the 2027–2029 biennium to address a projected $800 million budget gap.
Agencies with budgets over $20 million must cut 10%, those between $10 million and $20 million must cut 3%, and those under $10 million must hold spending flat.
The governor also prohibited new full-time positions and construction projects, except for specific exceptions, and warned that two decades of budget growth is unsustainable.
