Amazon will cut off Kindle Store access for devices released in 2012 or earlier starting May 20, 2026. Users on older Kindle e-readers and first- and second-generation Fire tablets will no longer be able to buy, borrow, or download new books, though they can still read previously purchased titles. Amazon is notifying affected users and offering discounts on new devices to encourage upgrades.
