Blind man creates accessible Lego instructions for visually impaired community.
Matthew Shifrin, a blind man from Newton, Massachusetts, founded Bricks for the Blind after discovering accessible braille instructions at age 13.
His nonprofit now provides free, downloadable step-by-step guides in braille, audio, and digital formats for over 540 Lego sets, empowering more than 3,000 blind and visually impaired builders worldwide.
Shifrin’s advocacy also influenced the Lego Group to introduce its own audio and braille instructions, making the popular toy more inclusive for all.
