EU urges Iran to de-escalate tensions after blocking Strait of Hormuz.

European Council President Antonio Costa urged Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to de-escalate tensions and pursue diplomacy after a phone call, warning the Middle East situation is extremely dangerous. Costa expressed regret over a U.S. missile strike on a school in Iran that killed at least 165 people, mostly schoolgirls. The EU supports diplomatic efforts as Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz, causing oil prices to surge past $100 a barrel.
