ESRI study finds minimum wage hikes did not increase job losses.
A recent study by Ireland’s Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) found that minimum wage increases from 2016 to 2025 did not lead to higher job losses among low-paid workers.
The research showed no evidence that these wage hikes increased unemployment, even during years with larger raises.
While the study noted strong economic growth may have helped, it also found that many employers rely on lower youth wages to manage rising labor costs.
