Gallacher wins Highland Heroes award for mental health charity work.

Gary Gallacher, a 32-year-old from Thurso now living in Leeds, was named Volunteer of the Year at the 2026 Highland Heroes awards for his work with Mikeysline, a mental health charity. Gallacher provides confidential support via text twice a month, despite living away from the Highlands for 15 years. He received a surprise and heartfelt welcome from people in Caithness after being nominated.
