Over 5,500 autistic people in the Thames Valley region now use free Autism Alert Cards to help communicate their needs during emergencies.
Created by Autism Berkshire and Thames Valley Police, the cards are available to anyone with a diagnosis and can be applied for online.
The program, expanding from a 2010 pilot, trains police officers and aims to raise awareness ahead of World Autism Awareness Day in 2026.
