Over 1,200 learner drivers were turned away from tests in Ireland for lacking insurance.
Over 1,200 learner drivers in Ireland were turned away from their driving tests in the past two weeks after a new rule took effect requiring proof of insurance for the test vehicle.
The rule was implemented following a dispute between the Road Safety Authority and the Fórsa trade union over tester protection.
The RSA is working to reschedule the affected drivers and clarified that testers are covered by the Motor Insurers' Bureau of Ireland.
