Arsalan Chaudhary, a 44-year-old Mississauga man, has pleaded guilty to organizing Canada's largest gold heist, a $24 million theft of 400 kilograms of gold bars from an Air Canada facility at Toronto Pearson Airport in April 2023.
Arrested in January 2024 after fleeing to Dubai, Chaudhary admitted to using a forged waybill to collect the cargo and melting down the gold in a Mississauga jewelry store basement.
The operation involved multiple conspirators, including a former Air Canada employee, and Chaudhary used a handwritten ledger to distribute stolen funds to associates.
