Apple activates Stolen Device Protection on iPhones to prevent thieves from accessing accounts without biometric authentication.
Apple has automatically activated a new security feature called Stolen Device Protection on iPhones running iOS 26.4, making it significantly harder for thieves to access or resell stolen devices.
Even if a thief knows the passcode, they cannot make key changes to the Apple account, such as resetting passwords or removing the device, without Face ID or Touch ID.
If the phone is detected in an unfamiliar location, a one-hour delay is enforced before such changes can be made, giving the owner time to remotely mark the device as lost or erase it.
