Ohio State Sen. Al Cutrona, R-Canfield, introduced the Freedom to Carry Act to update state gun laws, allowing legal transport of shotguns and rifles with ammunition in vehicles and lowering the concealed carry license age from 21 to 18.
The bill aims to align Ohio’s regulations with federal standards, reduce unintended felony charges for hunters and gun owners, and modernize outdated policies.
It has bipartisan support with seven co-sponsors and is expected to move to hearings soon.
A similar bill in the Ohio House remains pending.
