Jerrod Calhoun, head coach at Utah State, is set to return to his alma mater, Cincinnati, as the new head basketball coach, replacing Wes Miller, whose contract was bought out after five seasons without an NCAA Tournament berth.
Calhoun, 44, a native of Ohio, played and served as a student assistant at Cincinnati under Bob Huggins in 2003-04 and later coached at Youngstown State and Utah State, where he posted a 55-15 record over two seasons, including NCAA Tournament appearances and AP Top 25 rankings.
Utah State defeated Villanova in the 2026 NCAA Tournament before losing to Arizona.
Calhoun’s hiring marks a return to his roots and comes as Utah State searches for its fourth head coach in a decade.
