India's Jaishankar discusses West Asia conflict and energy security with US's Rubio.
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on March 23, discussing the West Asia conflict and its impact on global energy security.
The conversation focused on the economic repercussions of the crisis, particularly rising energy prices due to Iran’s near blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil and LNG shipments.
India, which relies heavily on West Asia for energy, is concerned about short- and long-term fuel, food, and fertilizer security.
Jaishankar also met with GCC ambassadors, thanking them for supporting the Indian community in the region and discussing shared concerns.
He spoke with counterparts from Sri Lanka and Germany on the same issues, reaffirming India’s regional commitments.
