Dr. Kermit Gosnell, convicted of killing infants born alive during late-term abortions, died at 85 in prison.
Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion provider convicted of murdering three infants born alive during late-term procedures, died at age 85 on March 1 at a Pennsylvania hospital while serving a life sentence.
His West Philadelphia clinic, dubbed the “house of horrors,” was found to have unsanitary conditions, illegal abortions past Pennsylvania’s 24-week limit, and evidence that newborns were killed by severing their spines.
The 2010 investigation led to the firing of two top state health officials and prompted stricter clinic regulations.
Gosnell, who also admitted to running a drug trafficking operation, was sentenced to life in prison in 2013.
A cause of death was not disclosed.
