Construction on Brisbane’s new Olympic stadium, set to host athletics and ceremonies for the 2032 Games, begins June 1, 2026, the Crisafulli government confirmed.
Designed by a consortium including Cox Architecture, Hassell, and Azusa Sekkei, the 63,000-seat venue will feature a three-tier bowl, corporate tiers, a halo video board, and open ends for airflow.
It will replace the Gabba as Brisbane’s primary AFL and cricket venue after the Games, with the Gabba slated for demolition.
A valley near QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus is a likely site, though the final location remains unconfirmed.
