Braves pitcher Spencer Strider starts 2026 on the injured list with an oblique strain.
Atlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Spencer Strider will begin the 2026 season on the injured list due to an oblique strain, the team announced.
The 27-year-old was scratched from his spring training start against Pittsburgh, where he had posted a 3.24 ERA in 8 1/3 innings across three appearances.
Strider, a former All-Star, struggled in 2025 after missing most of 2024 due to Tommy John surgery, finishing with a 7-14 record and 4.45 ERA in 23 starts.
His absence adds to the Braves' pitching depth issues, as three other starters—Spencer Schwellenbach, Hurston Waldrep, and Joey Wentz—are already on the 60-day injured list with elbow or ACL injuries.
The Braves open the season Friday against the Kansas City Royals, with Chris Sale set to start.
