Steven Alker won the Cologuard Classic in a playoff, becoming the first back-to-back champion.
New Zealand’s Steven Alker won the Cologuard Classic in Tucson, Arizona, for the second straight year, defeating Ireland’s Padraig Harrington in a playoff to become the tournament’s first back-to-back champion.
Alker, who trailed by nine shots after a course-record 9-under 62 on Saturday, shot a final-round 6-under 65 and secured victory with a birdie on the 18th hole in the playoff.
Harrington’s bogey on the 18th in regulation forced the extra hole, where his par putt fell short.
Alker, an 11-time Champions Tour winner, claimed his first title since last year’s Simmons Bank Championship.
Zach Johnson and Tommy Gainey tied for third at 13 under, while Thongchai Jaidee finished fifth at 12 under.
Four players tied for sixth at 11 under, and Bo Van Pelt finished tied for 10th at 10 under.
