Russia denies a report that officials insulted French envoys, calling it unprofessional, and says peace talks with U.S. and Ukraine paused after U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran.
The Kremlin denied reports that Russian officials used offensive language toward French envoys during a February meeting in Moscow, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov stating Russia does not use vulgar language in diplomacy.
He dismissed claims that Yuri Ushakov, a top Putin aide, told French advisers “f**k you” when they pushed for EU involvement in Ukraine peace talks, citing diplomatic principles about delivering tough messages respectfully.
Peskov confirmed the meeting occurred but said it yielded no progress, criticizing European efforts to sustain the war.
He reiterated Russia’s willingness to pursue diplomacy despite its military advances, noting that talks among Moscow, Washington, and Kyiv have paused temporarily due to the U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran but will resume.
