Equinor’s Rio Energy buys Brazil’s 230 MW Esquina do Vento wind project, with Vestas supplying turbines and long-term maintenance.
Equinor’s Rio Energy has acquired Brazil’s 230 MW Esquina do Vento wind project from Vestas, marking its first major renewable investment in the country.
Vestas will supply 51 V163-4.5 MW turbines, with construction starting in March 2027 and completion by year-end.
The company will also provide 30 years of operations and maintenance under an AOM 5000 agreement.
Once operational, the project is expected to power about 520,000 homes, supporting Brazil’s clean energy goals and local economic development.
