Conor O'Brien, 29, of Ardee, was sentenced to 11 years in prison with the final year suspended after pleading guilty to importing firearms and ammunition for Irish criminal gangs between February 2023 and July 2024.
He used his U.S. citizenship to buy weapons and sell them in Ireland, leading to the seizure and destruction of multiple firearm components.
Two money laundering charges related to over €17,000 were dropped by prosecutors, and the funds were returned to him.
A co-defendant, Mark McCourt, was previously jailed for 12 years in a similar case.
